Did you know the IAFC’s Company Officer Leadershp Symposium (COLS) is the leadership training more chiefs are choosing for their company officers? COLS is the only one of its kind, providing education, training and professional development across three levels (supervisor, manager, administrator).
“The focus is on leadership qualities,”" says Chief Duane Dodwell, Fairfax County Fire & Rescue. “Company officers must learn how to interact with their communities, manage relationships, deal with conflict resolution and deal with budgetary issues. Company officers will upgrade their leadership abilities and skills in many different areas as they learn form the best and most -respected leaders in the fire service, while getting the opportunity to network with company officers and battalion chiefs from across the country and to learn what other departments are doing out to handle today’s of challenges, including budgetary, personnel issues and emergency operations.
