<p>Crawford began his fire service career in Shreveport in 1984,  completing his training as part of the 31st Basic Class. He was assigned  as a Firefighter/EMT to Station 7 (Truck 7) in the Highland  Neighborhood and later Station 9 (Truck 9) in Cedar Grove. In 1985 he  was transferred to Central Station 1 (Engine 1) downtown and six months  later to Rescue 1 where he would remain until 1988.</p>
<p><a href="http://fri.iafc.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/crawford.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-1832" title="crawford" src="http://fri.iafc.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/crawford.jpg" alt="crawford" /></a>In 1988 Crawford was promoted to Fire Medic Driver and assigned to  Station 15 (Medic 15) in Sunset Acres. He would receive his paramedic  training in 1990 and as side employment join the flight aeromedical  transport team consortium of Life Air Rescue of Willis Knighton and  Schumpert Medical Centers in 1991.</p>
<p>Crawford was promoted to Fire Engineer in 1994. His first  administrative role would come in 1996 when promoted to EMS Officer  overseeing medical CQI evaluation. He would become a Training Officer in  1998 where he also oversaw the organization’s hiring process. In 2000  he became part of the Command Staff and was promoted as the department’s  first Public Information Officer. In 2002 he promoted to the Assistant  to the Fire Chief position where he oversaw the Administrative Staff,  $45 million operating budget and was the Director of Strategic Planning.</p>

<p><a href="http://fri.iafc.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/ellis.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-1839" title="ellis" src="http://fri.iafc.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/ellis.jpg" alt="ellis" /></a>Battalion Chief Martha Ellis has been a firefighter with the Salt Lake  City Fire Department (SLCFD) for more than 15 years, serving as a  firefighter, an engineer, a media technician, an ARFF training officer,  an airport fire marshal and currently the fire marshal for Salt Lake  City. She has won the Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge Women’s  Division five times, and held the world record for 8 consecutive years.  She also works as a certified fitness coordinator for the SLCFD.</p>

<p><strong>A little about Rick Black, Butch Cobb, and Ralph Dorio:</strong></p>
<p><strong>Rick Black</strong> is program manager for the Commission on Fire Accreditation International.</p>
<p><strong><a href="http://fri.iafc.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Cobb.jpg"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-1836" title="Cobb" src="http://fri.iafc.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Cobb.jpg" alt="Cobb" /></a>Robert “Butch” Cobb</strong> recently retired as a Deputy  Chief with the Jersey City, NJ, Fire Department. Chief Cobb was a member  of the group who founded the Worcester Safety and Survival Seminar to  honor the fallen firefighters. Cobb is the director of Community Hazard  Mitigation for the Insurance Services Organization (ISO).</p>
<p><strong>Ralph Dorio</strong>, a licensed building, fire, mechanical,  and construction administration official in New Jersey, joined Insurance  Services Office in 1999 as a technical coordinator for the Building  Codes Effectiveness Grading Schedule (BCEGS).</p>
<p>Dorio is chairman of the board of Fire Commissioners for Washington  Township Fire District Number 1. He serves on the technical committee  for the ICC performance code, the committee for hurricane-resistant  construction, several NFPA technical committees, and the certification  committee. He also participated in the 9/11 Commission as an active  member of the group reviewing emergency preparedness for the private  sector.</p>
<p>Dorio is a certified code enforcement instructor, holds an ICC CBO  certification, and has 15 years’ experience in construction and more  than 10 years’ experience in plan reviews and construction inspection.  He has also served as a volunteer fire fighter since 1984, including  three years as chief officer.</p>
<p>Dorio has a master’s degree in business administration and a bachelor’s degree.</p>

Chief Adam K. Thiel is the Chief of Alexandria Fire Department (VA.) and  a former state fire director for the Commonwealth of Virginia. <p><strong>A little about Chief Chris Connealy:</strong></p>
<p><a href="http://fri.iafc.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/connealy.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-1851" title="connealy" src="http://fri.iafc.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/connealy.jpg" alt="connealy" /></a>Chris Connealy has served as fire chief of the Cedar Park Fire  Department since March 2004. Cedar Park is a rapidly growing community  that borders Northwest Austin and has 74 members and four fire stations.  He served over 25 years with the Houston Fire Department and retired  January 2004. He promoted through the ranks and retired as fire chief.  Chris has associate, bachelor, and master degrees. He is accredited as a  Chief Fire Officer, EFO graduate, and completed the Harvard University  State and Local Executive Fellowship program. He is the Chairman of the  Texas Commission on Fire Protection, serves on the Texas Fire Chiefs  Association executive board, and received various awards during his  career in the fire service. Chris serves as an adjunct instructor for  TEEX and Austin Community College. He has two sons that are 20 and 18  years-old.</p>

A little about Chief Chris Connealy:
Chris Connealy has served as fire chief of the Cedar Park Fire  Department since March 2004. Cedar Park is a rapidly growing community  that borders Northwest Austin and has 74 members and four fire stations.  He served over 25 years with the Houston Fire Department and retired  January 2004. He promoted through the ranks and retired as fire chief.  Chris has associate, bachelor, and master degrees. He is accredited as a  Chief Fire Officer, EFO graduate, and completed the Harvard University  State and Local Executive Fellowship program. He is the Chairman of the  Texas Commission on Fire Protection, serves on the Texas Fire Chiefs  Association executive board, and received various awards during his  career in the fire service. Chris serves as an adjunct instructor for  TEEX and Austin Community College. He has two sons that are 20 and 18  years-old.

Kern is one of the world’s leading authorities on human  performance and the author of six books on the subject, including  Redefining Airmanship, Flight Discipline, Darker Shades of Blue: The  Rogue Pilot, and most recently Blue Threat: Why to Err is Inhuman. Kern  is an internationally recognized expert in the field of applied human  factors and performance improvement, and has lectured on the subjects  around the globe for nearly two decades. Kern has deep operational roots  as a Command Pilot and Flight Examiner in the B-1B bomber, as well as  senior staff and leadership experience, including service as the Chair  of the Air Force Human Factors Steering Group and Director and Professor  of Military History at the USAF Academy.</p>
